The 5r110 has adaptive learning so it is literally ALWAYS learning to adjust to the way you drive, tranny wear, per TCM strategy etc etc.. So for example a Stock truck that has been driven by the same person for "X" amount of time is going to be "used" to shifting a certain way, then when you upload a race style tune with totally different shift points, lock up, line pressure it really throws the transmission through a loop and it takes it a bit to adapt. So the more you can just stick with one tune the better, your transmission will thank you. I thoroughly believe swapping tunes constantly will decrease the life of your transmission, although I am sure some will disagree.

On another note Gearhead has awesome transmission tuning, and I have been very pleased with their customer service & tunes. Miles better than my IDP tunes shifting wise.
not in my case, i put over 500 miles on it the first time around..it shifted, down shifted, and locked up just as hard and rough at 500 miles as it was the day i loaded it.

the second time it was beautiful

I have discovered that when some people go from stock to the SRL+(and other race tunes) from stock that sometimes it never adapts....mine did this..but from the tow tune to srl+ it was great.

I also have the SRL EXTREME but do not use it..

I drove my SRL+ from Houston TX to Orlando and back in a weekend several times and drive to Colorado and back to Houston frequently...and even did a few trips to Washington dc and back to Houston....all on the SRL+..

I thoroughly trust this tune...however, i am no hot rodder. i drive like a grandpa..

My truck is an 04' late build with a KC2 ( based on a 04' 13 blade ) , 4" exhaust with a stock cat ( 4" in and out ) with stock injectorsand an AIRAID filter set up .
This thing is a really nice daily . I tow with it up to 5000 lbs ( boats etc. ) . The shifting is the best I've tried , consistent and smooth but firm . The only thing it doesn't like is a huge tire spin from a standing start , it will find neutral going into third . I've only had that happen twice but I also don't drive my truck like that ( I was fooling around ) .
If I were to make any changes to SRL+ , I would like to be able to unlock the TC with the tow haul switch on the fly . Sometimes itwill lug and not come out soon enough on a hill until you drop too much speed or apply a bunch of pedal and make it downshift .
I don't ( can't ) run anymore FICM tuning than ECO ( Matt's suggestion ) , A40 and up are just too hot and smoky .
Hope this helps .
agreed...hate the 45mph lock up! I didnt realize how many 45mph speed limits I had around here until i loaded it...but its really my only complaint.

jman37 He means PHP bowed out of public offerings. Not Gearhead.

i finally went to PHP for their tunes and never looked back but I can no longer recommend them since they bowed out of the public arena
and I have no idea how buying from a third party is
More info please......

jman37 Both of my 6.0's at one point had IDP tunes (before Gearhead) and I did not like them on either truck. Always ran the SRL+ and was always spot on, never looked back or changed.

superBADduty Iíve been running Gearheads SRLXX for many years. Tried a lot of different tunes but this one I like the best so I havenít changed it for years. I donít know the difference between the SRL+ and the SRLXX. That would be a question for Matt.
