SparkyF250 For what you have in it, you could drive it till it blows then drop in a KDD long block for $7600 and still be good.

6.4powerstroking Yeah I had a feeling that mechanics info was a load of crap but I'm not one to call somebody out on something when I don't know the truth myself so I just nod and research anyways the blow-by seemed bad but it definitely doesn't blow the cap off if I unscrew completely it won't let it sit flush but it will tip it but it does stay in the fill hole it's a damn good truck so far I did the full delete in planned on doing more upgrades cold air intake intercooler swap but definitely don't want to waste money on a truck that isn't going to last I picked it up from a close family friend for 4 grand cash with 156,000 miles on it only been rain in the Deep South so no rust and the outside and inside are in perfect shape the man that sold it to me was the original owner it was very meticulous on maintenance when he did have injector issues he had them put Crystal injectors in it I'm probably using the wrong name for him but that's what he called them so I don't know myself I suppose if the trucks worth it and problems did occur it would be worth a rebuild or bulletproofing so I guess we shall see again I do appreciate the response

RandomForumGuy 6.4’s are known for blow by. What your mechanic friend said doesnt make any sense. Unless the cap actually blows off i wouldnt about it. Like he said above, if you are really worried you can do a compression test but i have a strong feeling its fine.

6.4powerstroking Kinda what I was figuring I'd hear I do love the truck and I stumbled into it by luck or bad luck depending on how you look at it I wasn't necessarily looking at getting into a diesel in the first place but couldn't pass up on it for the money I paid it off right away so I'm not sitting in the hole with it and after owning this one I definitely wouldn't do it again with any make or model so I suppose I'll just drive it till she blows up and scrap it based on your info it doesn't seem like it's worth putting any kind of money into it but I do appreciate the response

JustinOOO9 I WOULD NOT TALK TO THAT MECHANIC ANYMORE.... Sorry there is just no way to sugar coat it. You need to have a ford 6.4 Tech perform a compression check using the Ford software to figure out if the blow by is normal or if there is a major issue. There is jus a lot going on and you need to see a professional diesel mechanic not the guy you talked to. Diesels and gas engines are not in the same class. especially the 6.4L power stroke with dual turbo, DPF/DEF system and high pressure fuel system. The 6.4L is expensive and requires a experience powerstroke tech or you'll spend a fortune and still not have the truck diagnosed/working correctly. failed rockers, dead cylinders, the valves can wear into the to the point where it allows oil into the cylinders from bad stem seal, it kind of goes on and on.

I say this in the nicest way possible: It would honestly be best for you to sell that truck and grab a 2013/2014 or newer 6.7L. The 6.4l is a powerhouse throwaway engine that was made for 2ish years before being totally scrapped.

Mechanic info

So I just wanted to run this by some people just some quick info 2008 6.4 deleted 4 inch downpipe back no Muffler and full EGR Delete with intake elbow programmed with gearbox 4.0 Stock tunes anyways a neighbor of mine had a mechanic overlooking his car last night he told me in and his dad do a lot of diesel work and figured having another contact wouldn't hurt now I'm no mechanic so this part kind of left me scratching my head so I haven't had the truck long before I deleted it and during last oil change I noticed a decent amount of blow by coming out of the fill cap may have been there forever may not have I'm not sure Cap won't sit flat but will sit at an angle so I told him about this and he said it's either in need of a wastegate to relieve the pressure or it's because I'm not running high enough Tunes so it's creating pressure between the turbos??? May not have been his exact words but am I an idiot and the man knows what he's talking about or am I right for question it?? Just in case it makes a difference my EBP pipe is still attached and my block off plate sits at the front of the horizontal cooler so could I be building pressure between there??
