so its a flush mount and an extension for the back of the radio. interesting..might consider it.

also thought about redoing the sync usb port on the other side since I unplugged the apim, that usb/3.5mm cover is useless for me now.

since its a single usb cable, does the two ports act like a hub?

That whole kit is mostly plug and play. 2 hours top I think. Easy install.

The 4200 is a bit old now but works fine. I have it and wish I had a newer head unit with wireless CarPlay but it isnít required. Youíll like it and itís cheaper now Iím sure.
I agree about the 2 port usb like in the picture. Works great.

Yes, been awhile since I did mine. Forgot about disabling the Bluetooth in the factory head unit. Good catch.

One of the only things I don't like about the install is that the unit sits in line with the dash. This results in some glare when the sun is just right. Before I quit making Kydex holsters I should have put together a sun shield. It wouldn't have to be much and I think Kydex would have been the perfect material for it. Might have to find a scrap piece to try out.

Here's the short list . . . tell me what I may be missing.

Pioneer AVH4200 NEX
Pioneer microphone (to set equalizer for listening position)
Maestro RR
Maestro FO1 radio harness
Metra Double DIN mounting kit
Dual USB Port
Micro Bypass Parking Brake Switch
Using the "kit" above, I was able to get it installed in a couple of hours. At the same time I replaced the tailgate handle and added one that incorporated the backup camera. I used a $30 camera from Amazon to install into it. Comes on automatically when put into reverse and I can also view it on command. I've since added some Infinity speakers and have been enjoying life in the Super Duty.

The head unit is really nice. I wasn't able to get all of the gauges I wanted on it, but between a ScanGauge II and the NEX, I'm good to go. Pared with the Maestro RR, I get all of the hands free stuff I want. I don't use the SYNC at all.

Unlike some, I am happy with the Metra Double DIN mounting kit. It went in smoothly and looks as nice as I could hope for. The Maestro FO1 wiring harness allowed the install to go in without a hitch. Do yourself a favor and use the dual USB port for inputs. I replaced a 12v outlet on the passenger side for this purpose. Super slick.
