I only upgraded the wire from the alternator to the battery, but I added grounds from both batteries to the body when I first got it since I had amps for speakers and subs in the truck

Flamed99 @6.7ferd Not replacing, but adding to. The bigger alt will require larger wire to carry the load. Otherwise expect issue. Then the cables from battery to battery and ground just parallel whats there to level out the load placed on the batteries.

djmaguire I haven't been on at all, guys. While my new job is great fun, it's been killing me timewise.

Saw this sale on the Gorilla folding platform. I was happy to get it on sale earlier for twice this.

voodooridr I just did mine with the FICM repair cable kit, it wasn't too bad except for the ground cable from the frame to the L/S cylinder head because there's not a ton of space down there.
If you have the time and the space pull the cold side CAC tube, it'll make it a lot easier.
With the new cables and the new Odyssey batteries my 6.4 starter spins really fast now

Flamed99 I also have dual alts on one truck. Over 160k with no issue as of yet. You could also get a cheapy from the parts house to use till you can get a good alt and cables rounded up. Then keep that for a spare in case. Or hit up a salvage yard, should be able to snag one cheap.

Weberman3 I put a 6.4 200amp on mine but it requires modification. I used the factory cable for awhile with no problems but then when it came towards winter where the glow plugs would run for a bit, I noticed the end on the battery was somewhat getting hot and just made up a bigger cable and added it on.
