18M_RWR Have been getting a P0170 code pop up the last 4x drove the truck. Found a thread on here that TSB 16-0134 was issued to fix it. So took it into local Ford dealer Saturday morning. They updated the PCM, TCM & GPCM to latest level and only took them an hour. So far no code and all is good.

Powder coat Powder coat Powder coat.... good quality shops can cooor march to the point that a layman wouldn’t see a difference in color, only texture. Aaaaaannnnnnndddd, powder coat will withstand rock chips so much better....

My other suggestion is those spray on liners like Line-X. Those can be color matched exactly and would be perfect for bumpers....

My 2 cents

HeavyAssault @myduty : That's a awesome look you have going on!! Nice work.

Here's my thoughts: Powdercoat needs to be done by the right people. Powdercoat tends to be a bit more durable, it will pit/ding/chip if hit hard enough. Color will not match but I'm sure the right place using the right power can get it damn close.
Automotive paint can be done just about anywhere but needs to be done right. Not as durable but holds it's own for the most part. OEM stuff is automotive paint. It will chip/pit/ding a bit easier over powdercoat. Color can/will be spot on matching the truck.

I'd say the automotive paint would be easier to touch up over the powdercoat. Powdercoat will be more durable but not match 100% if your OCD can handle that. Your call.

BTW Ruby Red is a stunner!!! My 2015 Platinum in Ruby Red always gets great comments about how it looks.

I would color match the bumpers to the truck.
Honestly I don't like the Ruby Red color but to each his own. As long as you like it that's all that matters.

Oh and what was wrong with the transmission?

I just had a transmission rebuilt in a '12 Jeep JK.
120,000 miles on 37's wore it out.

@ 30k it started having some hard shifts when cold and 5-6 would over rev going into 6. They replaced clutches and trans cooler, they did not actually say what caused it other then ford must know they had issues cause hey sent heavier clutches. I don’t even haul anything. Lifetime power train so they covered it all.

Since you are running Ruby Red, what does the whole truck look like?? I got the same paint while running black wheels. Wish they had Bronze when I bought them...should have waiting 6 months.

I meant what would you recommend powder coat or just straight painting it? I have the caribou accent. Middle bumper both front and back will be red and the wings caribou. I got the truck December of 16, was the last of the 16’s and I wish I would have got the 17 style now.

But the big news is the big box I picked up. Kelderman Bravo series front and rear bumpers. Hope to have painted and installed in a few month. I will for sure update.
Their powder coating use to suck. I hope their quality got better.
