YES i did read that a few times as well.

I just put one new caliper on that i had and bled it real quick hopped in and started the engine, pumped it a few times and it will spin for me but still drags on it a little.

I have stainless lines in the front, are there are rubber ones somewhere else? or just from the caliper to the frame.

You probably have some crud in there too. So either rebuild them (if you'v enever done it, don't) or get new ones....
I have 1 new one for the front that someone gave me a while back.

Thanks for the advice but why would both sides lock up at the exact same time...

The brakes have been feeling just crappy. Not what they used to be years ago. I did the rear 3 years ago, rotors calipers pads, and did the flush for the PS system. Didn't notice much of a difference.

Ive read almost every thread possible on the brakes locking up and a lot of people have had this problem, and a lot of them end up replacing everything ( rotors calipers and pads) and nothing changes. A few replaced the MC and that works for them. Other replaced both the hydro and the MC and it worked and the other 90% did not come back a report the fix...

My hydroboost has no noticeable leaks on the engine side or leaking on the floor.

I am trying to not replace everything on the axle side because I want to put the 05 axle in and ill have to go through that one as well.

Thanks for the help. Ill put the brand new calipers on and see if that helps and if it does ill get one for the other side..

hansel If the slide pins are moving freely, then you might need new calipers.

Hkxyz Took the calipers off, pressed in the pistons to see if they would move and all is good. Pressed the brake pedal with the calipers off to check to see if the pistons were both moving together and they are.

Put them back on and started the truck, pressed brake and they are locked again. Something is not letting then release?

zsargent Pistons are frozen inside the calipers or
caliper slide pins need to be cleaned/lubed or
both

Front Brakes Locked Up

I have a 2000 7.3, got in it today to drive a mile or so and noticed that it felt like the brakes were applied and so I drove back home and the front brakes are locked up, both sides

Jacked up the rear and they seem to be spinning freely.

I opened the bleeders on both sides and on the MC and they are still locked.

Unscrewed the MC from the hydroboost to see if something was stuck there and still locked up

Will try to take the calipers off tomorrow and go from there. If anyone has some imput please let me know

Truck is in CA so no excessive rust on any of the parts.

Thanks
