TooManyToys Frank has done a great job of coming up with that flushing procedure and doing the video. It similar to the trans flush that was thought of on the Escapes, but there the fluid lines are used rather then dropping the pan. It may not get absolutely all the fluid, but by percentage does way better then the repeat events as Acura has you do on like the MDX.

A few years back I did a video on the trans filter change. Most here already know all this, but it might help someone who’s looking at this the first time. The one thing I did not include was a warning to continue to use the remote filter for the reasons ZMANN noted.

Why are you worried about your trans pan getting crushed. The bell housing will get sheared off long before along with radius arms oil pan of engine. That thing laying on the frame all ghetto like ? ?
Rock crawler F250 ? It’s so unlikely in stock form and almost impossible lifted 4”-6” with balloon tires.

ZMANN if you leave it out the fluid will take the path of the least resistance and that is right back to the transmission skipping the coolers

I can vouch for this i did some flow test for fun and used clear tube and with the filter out no fluid went to the coolers

others have reported overheating after removing that filter

No restriction issue with keeping the toilet/bypass filter along with the update pan and better internal filter, it still works?

His reason for leaving it out and that it is useless doesn't make reason.

Need wouldn’t be the word choice I would use. Sitting in park or moving in gear aren’t prerequisites for the bypass to open. As long as the fluid is warm enough it will open; it doesn’t matter how that’s accomplished. To say it won’t is like saying the coolant thermostat won’t open under the same conditions.
Barring a transmission debris or contamination, a flush is unnecessary with regular maintenance. The flush theory is a good marketing campaign though. A lot like organic beef.

My 06 DRW is 2wd and the 08 pan upgradee as I understand is deeper and was wondering would I have problems with hitting/scrapping the upgrade pan do to clearance issues?
i think the only part that is deeper is the pocket where the filter sits

i can't see 2wdtrucks using another style pan and and filter ?
