Cold start issues *fixed*

I know a lot of folks have cold start problems on occasion. When I first got my truck it was no issues to be 15*F and start without being plugged in. Then it started to slowly need to be plugged in until finally it would kill the batteries trying to start on cold mornings. I even tried a battery maintainer and still no good. They were 3 year old batteries also. Anyway, they are both dead as tested so I got some brand new ones (Duralast Gold).

This morning it's 26*. Not plugged in and I cycled it twice until the WTS light went off (yes, I know it stays on regardless but it gives ME a timer). Fired up on 2nd lick with no problems. So, check your batteries.

same with mine, since i have installed the factory motor craft plugs(beru) , upgraded to the larger white rogers relay, and ICP sensor it has been the cats meow in the cold:woot:

sat for 2.5 weeks in the cold while i was at work and fired right up after i cycled the gp light twice. (not needed just do it for habit), keep telling myself to bring my cord to work to plug it in, but haven't needed it this year. :woot:

After reading all the cold start issues in "cold" temps like 20F, I began worrying buying my 02 F350 and starting in the below zero temps around these parts.

I've had no issues at all so far. It came with a remote starter, and it has a programmed wait of about 40 seconds, and it starts every time, one press, right down to the -5F temps we had last week. Warms up faster at home because I'm plugged in, but had no problems at work where I can't plug in too.

So either the previous owner has done the GPR upgrade (will check today, it's pushing 30 out today) or I just got lucky.

If I don't have the Stancor relay, I'll get one and put it in next time I run to the Auto Hobby Shop.

I'm also thinking about the Riff Raff Regulated Fuel Return mod, to see if it will quiet the idle a little in the neighborhood in the wee hours of my departure.
