Stock boost??

Hey guys I'm still relatively new to my 7.3 and am feeling like I'm not making the power I should. A couple months ago I had an exhaust leak fixed at the exhaust manifolds which gave me huge power gains (relatively). However, with my obd reader plugged in driving down the road, at 70% throttle I'm only making about 8psi. Does that sound right?

Notes: I have not yet cleaned the tube going to the ebpv and on a cold day and low rpm before the engine is warmed up, the ebpv cycles back and forth like it is confused and makes a "shh-shh-shh" sound. The sound goes away with the right amount of throttle tho.

Check your boots and clamps.

completey stock truck should make 15-16.

4 inch exhaust and free flowing intake about 17.

your sure your not reading the wastegate pressure?
because it opens at about 7-8 psi.

mechanical boost gauges are super cheap.

ya its tough to know

any boost leaks in your system?

leaky up pipes, possibly intercooler/manifold boots are old and need replacing :dunno:

soot on the firewall will indicate leaky up pipes. also you can have someone sit in the truck and rev up the truck with the hood popped. if you see exhaust coming out from the up pipes (behind turbo) then they are leaking.

only way to tell/hear if manifold.intercooler boots are leaking is to pressurize the system with the truck off.
can build your own boost leak detector or buy one from dieselsite.
