I am new to this forum. My 99 f-250 started making a noise like two pieces of metal hitting (hard to describe) towards the front passenger side. It doesnt sound engine or tranny related. It is heard the most when i almost get stopped. It is not constant but i can hear it every once in a while. My first thought was a wheel bearing but it doesnt really squeak.
Thanks in advance
My first thought would be ball joints, but only because I've experienced that. Do you have local tire store you trust to take a look at it and will they look at it for free to see if that is it?
yea my guess would have to be ball joints i agree with the previous post if you have a ( TRUSTWORTHY) tire shop that will look at it thats what i would do
Also check the shock mount and see if the AC dryer is hitting the top of the shock mount while driving. I have worn out body mounts and mine hits the bottom of the the AC dryer and I thought it was a bad shock bushing, it turned out to be that.
I don't think it is ball joints because the more i listen to it it seems to be coming from around the bed. Sometimes, it sounds like a gunshot. I do appreciate the replys. I am due for an alignment and will prabably replace them while i am at it anyway.
