Important Notice from SCT Performance

IMPORTANT SCT Dealer News November 9th, 2011
RE: SCT Off-Road Diesel Programmers

Dear SCT Customer,
We regret to inform you that, effective immediately, SCT will no longer be offering for sale any of the following SCT products:
9625OR
9621OR
3025OR
3067OR
4067OR
4416OR

3416LMMOR
8900OR
4015OR
8967OR
ORTUNE

Our decision to discontinue these products is based on recent statements made by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) regarding diesel performance products intended solely for racing/off-road use. The EPA and CARB have taken the position that the manufacturer of such products is solely responsible for the proper use of those products by the end-user. Despite our best efforts to carefully develop and implement procedures designed to ensure that each purchaser of our off-road/race-only products is aware of his or her legal obligations and promises to use those products in a lawful manner, as of this time we have not been able to gain satisfactory assurance that such measures will be considered adequate by the EPA and CARB. Consequently, we have chosen to withdraw our off-road/race-only products from the marketplace until we are able to verify that the sale of those products can be achieved in a manner that satisfies EPA’s and CARB’s concerns.

We will continue to monitor developments with regard to applicable federal and state legal requirements. If and when we are able to re-introduce these products into the marketplace in a manner that definitively meets all EPA and CARB requirements, we will do so. In the meantime, we trust that you will understand the basis for our decision.

Thank you for your continued support.
Regards,

Rick Trudo, President - SCT Performance, LLC.

Knew it was a matter of time, very similar to the announcement made by Edge/SuperChips a few months ago.

Yep good luck to all other tuner manufactures out there. Any mods to ANY emissions control systems is illegal in all 50 states. Kinda sucks that we are told what we can or cannot do to OUR trucks, but I guess that life, huh.

this is a HUGE part of the problem.

How can a company be held liable for what the end user does with their product? This will never stand up in court if they fight it. What are they gonna stop gun makers becauser the end user might kill someone?
they are already pushing legislation for just such purposes.
the drive is to turn the usa into a communist country, labeled socialism, or as bernie slanders say democratic socialism.
our edumakayshun siztym has been touting this as the answer to all the ills the very system they want to put in charge has created.
my daughter went to berzerkly and they flat out teach lies and agenda over truth...way to get you education dollars worth let me tell you.
anyways I dont men to turn this into a political thread but the fact of the matter is that is exactly what this is >:)

Oh, well, in that case...drinks are on you, I guess. Problem solved.

You're missing the big picture about what the EPA is and it's veiled objectives. They haven't gone away. Nor will they. They eventually want our trucks off the hwys unless it for business or commercial purposes.

The graduating class of '16 and beyond will absolutely take the whole climate change nonsense to new levels via the EPA and other agencies.

Geezus. Have you looked under the hood at the emissions devices and under the truck at the exhaust system? It's designed to kill MPG's and engine longevity (and your wallet) in the long run. EGR's, coolers and DPF's are not your friend. It's about more than just some off-road tuners. The war continues....
The same thing happened with cars in the 70's man... we had a decade of crappy cars and made a comeback.

Best of luck to your grass roots movement.
exactly ans we are up against liars and the useful retarded like OWEdumbo who lie even to themselves.
he spews the rhetoric of see regulation pushed for cleaner running vehicles and now we have them.
the fact of the matter is technology exists for SUPER clean running high mileage vehicles which would clean up our air and our need for foreign oil (another issue sort of but worth mentioning here)
fact is their are too many tax dollars at stake for them to allow high mileage vehicles in this country. they believe they are entitled to ever increasing tax income at our expense and couldnt care less about the environment, or anything but cash and power.
they create obstacles based on who bribes the right political scoundrels ... and then it is up to the innovators to make the technology work and or find workarounds.he who pays plays

I cant believe this hasn't got more attention. This is the first I have heard of it. Knew it would happen though. Kinda like killin muscle cars in the 70s

Screw you OBAMA EPA LIBs etc etc

Which vehicles do these affect? DPF equipped trucks? 6.0s?

From doing a quick search on those model numbers it looks like the 6.0 won't be affected, but the 6.4 would be.

What the EPA and CARB need is to be reminded THAT the "Harmful by products" of diesel exhaust was determined in LABORATORY tests with extreme measures and high concentrations of "soot" "fumes" etc.

IF they were to find out how many trucks are "tuned" "deleted" compared to how many are left stock then they would see a small percentage of "tuned" and or "deleted" trucks compared to stock.

Also id like to add, California is effected by its geographical features. LA is in a valley. Smog accumulates in valleys. California in my opinion is its own country and should be dealt with as such. I am against the EPA and any and ALL forms of Emissions Controls. If they want to fix polution, theyll go to china and other developing countries and stuff a catalytic converter on every smoke stack farm tractor and other polution control devices on other industrial equipment and production facilities. Diesel trucks are a small target in the BIG picture. Its ridiculous that new Farm tractors are equipped with emissions control devices, ECDs that decrease longevity of the engine and its performance. The EPA should be shown EVERY SINGLE 6.4 THAT HAS GRENADED DUE TO THE WONDERFUL TRASH CAN OF DOOM THAT IS THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER, THE MANY UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE TO PURCHASE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID INCREASING COST OF MAINTENANCE AND CREATING MORE POLUTION IN THE LONG RUN WITH THE PLASTIC JUGS THAT DON'T GET RECYCLED PROPERLY.

EPA should be over run with pitchforks and torches and every building that is theirs burnt to the ground. SAME with carb.

IF THE EPA WANTS TO PULL THIS CRAP THEN THEY SHOULD PAY FOR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE 6.0S 6.4S AND 6.7S IF AN EMISSIONS CONTROL DEVICE FAILS SUCH AS EGR COOLERS, EGR VALVES, PLUGGED DPF AND DOCS, REPLACE LEAKING INJECTORS THAT THROW TONS OF SMOKE AND PAY FOR ANY P03## CODE REPAIR ON ANY DIESEL OR GASOLINE ENGINE BEINGS THE OBD2 SYSTEM WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT FURTHER POLLUTION FROM INCREASED HYDROCARBONS FROM MISSFIRES (UNBURNT FUEL)

Even though i dont own a diesel i do find it unfair and Un-American that these agencies DICTATE what you or I can do to OUR vehicles with OUR money. Land of the free my @ss the military should be yanked out of the middle east and wipe out the real terrorists aka EPA CARB and any prius owner :hehe:

While the above is true, what we need to realize is that THEY DON'T CARE !!!
The EPA is now the executive branch enforcement for the Green Nazis and Cap and Trade. Look for more bs in the near future. If the libs retain potitical power it will get worse. Elections matter and your vote does count. :thumb:

IF it holds in court. Then the EPA can refund everyone out of warranty for any repairs directly related to emissions control device failures. Seriously. They want to enforce it, then they will pay. And im sure after a few repair bills from 6.4 short blocks and 6.0 failed head gaskets from failed egr coolers plus injectors for both engines theyll wish they never became enviro-gestapo

The epa isnt going to pay for shat, come on now. They are the enviornment nazis and every aspect of life has it's nazis.
So they are forcing the tuner companies to stop selling for newer stuff im assuming? Im guessing further production on future models/vehicles is halted too?

Theres a difference between should, and going to. I will be very clear i do not argue they wont, its highly unlikely they wont. BUT if enough fed up people show up on someones door step it not only sends a message but also makes it known that we (diesel enthusiasts and performance enthusiasts alike) arent going to take their BS. Who elected them to mandate laws governing our vehicles anyways? Sometimes i wish i had a time machine just to go back in time and abort stupid decisions.

Look Long haul big rigs, they all have DPFs and Urea after treatments, farm tractors and other equipment with all the same crap that diesel pickups have. A co worker whos part time works on a Fleet of MACK trucks and none of them are holding up like older ones did pre emissions BS. trucks that could go 500k+ before needing resleeved and over hauling, dont even last 150k. Whos going to pay for this? The company that builds the vehicle be it an OFF ROAD piece of machinery or pickup or long haul rig? Under warranty yes, after that then its out of your pocket be it you do the repairs yourself or pay dealerships or performance shops to fix them. Its not right NOR fair to the consumers to incur costs just because California is under a blanket of smog and some lab rats were exposed to high levels of soot on a daily basis that ended up developing tumors and cancers.

We beat the nazis in WW2 we can beat em again in todays day and age. All it takes is Proof solid evidence that this emissions crap is decreasing the longevity of the products effected (6.0 6.4 6.7 Cummins Dmax long haul rigs etc etc), Incurred expenses for repairs DIRECTLY related to emissions control devices, and MANDATORY expenses for this new exhaust after treatment BS.
Call me crazy but honestly id be the first one on their door step and i would do everything humanly possible (whether legal or not) to put an end to their reign and ruin of any vehicle. I have enough expirience and evidence to support the simple fact they are killing Your Trucks Be it a 6.0 6.4 6.7 If you cant stand up to them and let them continue the BS, it wont be stopped so where does it end? Does SCT have to lose money? I dont think so, i believe SCT should file a lawsuit for loss in income, and be forced to pay anyone at SCT that gets let go. Also while im ranting, I came across something VERY interesting.

Texas sues EPA to block new pollution rule - Houston Chronicle
Go texas i hope texas wins and the epa dies.

Everyone needs to go sit down and drink a little....all the tuning company's did was eliminate a product that was titled "offroad". The tuning still allows for it but now they are selling "on road" CARB approved tuners that meet legal mandates.....the custom tuners can and will be able to write an offroad tune for applications. They just found a safe way to sell there tuning products without having to be worried about the EPA knocking on the door. It AINT the end of the world.....yet....
