Question Battery question group 34

Hi!

I am new here and this is also my first diesel ANYTHING!

I had done some research and it seemed that people that owned the 7.3L powerstrokes are pretty happy.

I just picked up (I hope) a battery-less 2000 F350 DRW and I need to do a bunch of debug to determine which way is up and whether I should keep it or send it back where it came from.

So, I have two group 34 batteries in very good condition and I was wondering if I can use them for temporary duty until I determine which way is up.

I looked up the dimensions and they are smaller than the group 65 batteries in every dimension except height where they seem to be .3" taller?

Has anyone ever run group 34 batteries in such a beast?

Thank you all for your help,

Journey

P.S. I am in Phoenix so temperature will not be an issue, and this is for temporary duty (i.e. no more than a month).

With enough CCA you should be fine. Just make sure the battery posts do not touch the hood.

Thanks for the reply.

I absolutely agree, I was hoping someone might have already tried this or knows the stock clearance. Both batteries are 650CCA.

You should have plenty of clearance under the hood, the CCA rating is rather low for the manufactures specs but with warm weather it should turn over decent.

Many people keep thinking they have a battery problem when they have a weak starter problem.
Starters for the 7.3 are expensive if bought from brick and mortar parts stores.
There are online solutions for cheaper and free shipping guaranteed starters.
