2016 F350 6.7 with 2017 engine??

Vehicle went into shop to have turbocharger replaced. They got everything based on Vin, which states 2016. Went to install and they found that the engine is a 2017 version. This was bought brand new off lot in end of 2016. Anyone hear anything like this?

Well 2017 trucks are sold during the 2016 calendar year. Is it a Aluma-Duty??

Never heard of an aluma. bought it as plain 2016 f350 platinum with only 22 miles on the odo. Nothing said about anything else. Vin shows as 2016. Will have to find the serial number on engine and contact Ford. Just wanted to find if anyone else had heard anything like this.

If you have the 2011-16 body style then it is not an "aluma-duty"
Mine is as it is a 2019. 2017-2019 models are nicknamed "alumaduty" for the aluminum body panels.

I think you may just have the last month of the 2016 build 6.7s

Let us know what you find out.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to have a 2016 body style truck with a 2107 MY engine. It's NOT happening. With that PLEASE post up pics if you want to prove it.

Agreed. Unless it blew up in the 22 miles before you bought it. and they put a new motor in it.

Does the truck have aluminum cab?

Just post a pic of the engine bay. The air filter box is in a different place for the 2017+ than the 11-16's

Is it possible they ran out of 2016 engines, so they put a 2017 engine in?

No just the body panels. Approximate weight savings were 350lbs Aluminum vs Steel.
