When I say “new guy”, I mean new to owning a diesel and new to this forum.
I’ve driven diesel ambulances for many years but haven’t been responsible or in the loop of maintenance and repair.
I’m struggling with all of the abbreviations and nick names that y’all use. Some of them I’ve been able to figure out but many elude me.
I would never call myself a mechanic but I can change parts, I enjoy turning wrenches, and usually will attempt to do my own work when practical.
My “new” diesel is a 2000 f250 w/7.3
CrewCab 4x4. 182k
I spent 2-3 months casually looking, and 3-4 weeks actively looking for a truck to purchase.
I feel like I got a good one.
This community is a wealth of information, and I’ll be leaning heavily on y’alls knowledge. I joined as premium life membership. Hope to get another 200k out of this truck.
If someone, is willing to make a list of all the common abbreviations it would really help me out, I’d wager that I’m not the only newbie that would benefit.
Y’all could make a game out of it, see who can come up with an abbreviation that nobody thought of.
Anyway, this may sound like a joke, it’s not, please pardon my ignorance.
Thanks in advance.
The picture above was the day I picked up the Truck.
I purchased the truck about 80 miles from where I live. I had nobody at the time to help me. So I pulled the trailer empty with the Jeep, then pulled that Jeep home.
Pulling the Jeep to the off-road areas is my main reason for buying this truck. Thought it only fitting that it saw a little “duty” on the first day.
