Back up camera

We're selling my wife's car because she drives so little when I'm at work, so she will be using our Ford truck as her driver while I'm at work. I wanted to put a backup camera on it to make it a little easier for her to park since parking is really the only thing she doesn't like about driving the truck.

Has anyone used any of them that they cam recommend?

I used to use a wifi one that tied into the same tablet that I was using for Torque. It was okay, but the software was a bit wonky. I didn't like the transitions between the camera and Torque.

I ended up with a PEAK (Model #PKC0RB). You can get is for $40 from Rural King. Cheap and it works just fine.

Do you already have a monitor to view it on? I just ordered an auto-vox license plate camera for the wife's car for $20. I hav a pyle front/ rear view camera on the front on my truck that has a pretty good picture, it was about $18

Not to tell you your business but I would consider keeping two cars if a 17 year old truck is the option as your primary car.

That said, who is doing the install and what will be the display? there are a ton of options.

No i don't have a screen or anything to view it on.

I definitely get what your saying We have 3 vehicles still after selling her car, she could drive our 2015 Tacoma but our son really likes riding in the F350 so she drives that a lot. Plus the Ford is in great shape so I don't have any worries about it letting her down.

I'd be doing the install. We don't have a screen yet so a full kit that include a screen would be nice. I do also want to get some kind of monitor for the truck so maybe there is some kind of monitor that uses a screen for gauges that can incorporate a back up camera. I would prefer wired over wifi though just for reliability.

These are the other 2 vehicles we have.

The one I mentioned is a full kit. The only mildly technical part is splicing the camera into the reverse lamp wire, giving it a ground, and bolting it to the license plate. Other than that, the thing inside is just like a GPS unit. Cigarette lighter plug and suction cup and you are done.

The Edge CTS2 has a video input for a camera.
I bought this cheap on off Amazon last year and it's been working well: https://www.amazon.com/Chetoo-Waterp...+backup+camera

Thanks I'll check that one out. I'm definitely comfortable with wiring anything in, I've done a bunch of custom wiring projects on different vehicles so I'm pretty comfortable with auto electronics. That kit sounds like a good option though

I'll check that out too, to have everything encorperated into one screen would be nice depending on price.

its usually more for the "tuner" vs just the monitor.
