Current diesel price where I am in Pennsylvania ~$3.1999

On the PA Turnpike this past weekend ~$3.4699 (so they can rape truckers and people traveling on top of the toll prices, which are going up again, by 6 percent) - Oh, and it won't take your credit card at the pump, just fleet cards apparently. Have to go in and wait in line for 10 minutes, get out your crystal ball and tell them how much you want and prepay, while you're blocking one of the two truck pumps they have. Ridiculous.

Price at my wife's work where I get fuel $2.97

Federal diesel tax - 24.4 cents per gallon (includes a leaking underground storage tank fee of 0.0001 cents)

Pennsylvania state diesel tax - 74.1 cents per gallon
Underground storage tank fee - 1.1 cent per gallon

Were drinking out of the same cups in central California and paying for everyone that doesn't have to. But need to see what the Brits are paying a gallon these days. Was twice the cost of what we paid and the increase$$ of it has to be for the Queer. I meant Queen.

So Voodoo soon as Gavin picks up on that hang on to your hat for $8.00 a gallon. Surely the crumb would tell us how lucky we are compared to them.

This place sucks and that's no funny it's fact. Diesels diesel here there anywhere, its the high intake temps that are reducing your mpg. The amount of degrees from 100* air to combustion temperature makes a big difference from 70* The bigger the temperature change equates to expansion or energy produced. Which is why we have inter coolers on all these engines today they make more HP by increasing temperatures made during combustion.

Oh yea: can't raise the temps made from a combustion burn as long as at same elevation with same # of oxygen molecules. Only way to improve the temperature spread is by lowering the air temperature coming into the cylinders before combustion takes place.

colder air is denser air, means more air(oxygen) per volume.

more air per volume means more expansion, thus creating more energy.

Well maybe @mhatlen can answer.

Not to mention that logic goes out the window when OAT/IAT is under what 50*F?? Cause we all know winter temps drive MPGs down the tube.....

There's more to combustion then just air temp....you got to have fuel to burn. Too much fuel, too little fuel, too cold intake air temp, too hot intake air temp...etc etc etc.
