trailer camera harness

For reasons I won't go into, I have to extend the wiring harness on the camera side of trailer camera. It contains a shielded cable with two conductors and a naked ground wire and outside of the shielded cable is a conductor wire taped to the cable. I don't know if that wire needs to be outside of the shielded wires otherwise I could just use a four wire shielded cable to extend it with?

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

Hi bgirn, I can't give you a definitive answer. But in these days of all the key fobs and wireless devices a shielded cable can't hurt. You sure don't want some funny business to happen when a wireless signal crossed thru the wire. Remember to only ground one end of the shield or you could have a ground loop situation. For reasons I won't go into I had to replace the pig tail on my travel trailer. You probably already have repair done, kinda late response. Good travels to ya.
