Lightbulb oil life meter

Hello I just bought an 2018 F250 lariat diesel. It has a oil life reset but it does not have an oil life meter? Any ideas where it is located? Is it possible it does not have an oil life meter?

Just change it every 5K or 7-8K if you use synthetic. I never trusted those oil life meters.

Do you use the FordPass app? I can see my oil life % remaining there under vehicle details. I think it’s also on the DIC where you reset it, but that may have not been so on the 18’s.

FordPass on my phone works like crap. Wont stay connected. Seems its one thing after another with that app since its inception. Wish they could get there $hit together.

The Ford app works great for me. I have not had any problems with it so far.

I like the Ford App as well. Just wish that the oil life remaining would be an option on the dash as it is via the app.

I have the same year and truck as you and I can't get FordPass to work or stay connected either. It connects randomly, no rhyme or reason. Can't trust it to get the data when I need it and it shows 500-700 miles off on the app what my actual speedo shows.

FordPass is always a few hundred KMs behind for me too. Every time I open the app, I have to select my vehicle and then back out because it won’t show any info. I select it a second time and then it shows the info. Never works on the first time.

There is no oil life meter on these trucks. In the owners manual, it states something along the lines of a dash warning popping up at around 15% and then again at 5%. As far as I know, that’s the only oil life monitoring available to the driver.

I have to check on fordpass before I go up north to work because there is not oil change place around and I’m not changing my own oil outside in the bush at -30. (Northern Canada). I never surpass 13,000km (8400ish miles) between oil changes. On my previous Dodge models, max I did was 10,000km. I think at my 13,000 intervals, the oil life percentage was at 20% on the lowest one. I should state that I’m just about to only do my 3rd oil change.

I see the comments about the accuracy of Ford Pass and I'll have to say.....mine updates very regularly. Provided it can connect to WiFi, it passes the info along well. So make sure you can routinely connect to WiFi and it should be reliable.
