2019 F-450 Build pics

I ordered a F-450 back in April and it came in this week. I wanted to save some coin by removing things I did not need from the order, and getting things I wanted that were hard to find, like the middle jump seat, rubber floors, less automation. I saved money where I could, for example the electric steps only come in the "ultimate package" which is like $6k and includes all the radar and automation I don't need. So I passed on the package, but ordered steps from Amp. Little things like that. Anyway, list of goodies is stereo, steps, bumpers, lift. Already got the window tint done this week, wired in my gps tracker, and started on the stereo tonight. I have most the parts but it is notable I ordered them all in April and May and some parts are still showing up this week. There are a lot of unknowns and differences on the 450, it has been a learning process. For example, the pitman arm is bigger. I had to hunt one of those down, been a lot of time and work. I will keep this truck forever so willing to put some quality parts on it. Anyway, this thread will just be the pics, we will see how far I get this weekend. I have everything but the shocks from Fox, they were custom builds and I guess that means they take the better part of a year! I am getting started anyway!

Going to start this out and say here is a pic of my last truck, the day the new owner picked it up last May, and it is my style, and very much what the 450 will look like when done.

The truck day It came of delivery truck. No tint in this pic, no mods:

The stereo I did tonight. It the supercrewsound box. It is super tight fit, not an easy task. And the seats don't fold up and stay up on there own once it is in, because the box is hair wide. I will figure something out. Runs a JL13W5 and Kicker 1x1200, sounds fantastic.

done product, cut the backboard so top half could go back in.
already folded seat up on other side, that seat clip release is a pain in butt, what up with that ford

tomorrow I believe I will start with the AMP steps, then get the bumpers on, then get it ready and start working on front end. Will see how far I can get.

This post will most likely be top of this section for a LONG time. Awesome to see the new ride is already under the knife.

I’ll be following as I’m thinking about a 450 next year, Congrats!

Thanks Heavy, I am trying to knock this out quick though! We see how far I get today. Itís just the bumpers, steps, lift, and a front locker. They donít make a rear locker for the 350 DRW or 450 yet so that will be awhile, and only other thing this truck needs, and Iím guessing when they do they will probably make the 350 first. So that sucks cause is a must getting around in the dunes. Oh well.

Awesome build! Kudos for diving right in...I know a lot of people would be cautious of tearing stuff out of a brand new truck immediately.

"Cautious" isn't the word I would use for me....more like chit scared on bride turning into bridezilla and beatin' me silly with the parts I replaced!

>:) ha! You're right about that. My girl always rolls her eyes when the UPS guy drops off a box of some sort. Usually asks, "what's in the box for the truck or Mustang today?" :haha:

Ok I will post a few pics. In summary, doing this to a F-450 is a pain. Sourcing parts was a pain, installing parts is a pain, because in general most of the parts are the same as the 250/350 but there is plenty of little things that are different which eat up most of my time. The pitman arm is a very unique part, they are different for 450-550 and as far as I know Kelderman has them made and the only source, and they sent me the wrong one, so that I will have to address next week. The rear bumper is another example, the Rear bumper is made by ADD and advertised for 250/350 so go bless them, I can't complain right, but the 450 is different. The body has more brackets, For example of extra stuff a 450 has, check out the pic of the "balancer" insider rear bumper area, googled part number said it for 450/550 and supposed to counter balance vibrations. Well this sits inside the rear bumper, and companies like ADD don't build these for 450s, so most my day is spent addressing these issues. Fun stuff, pics:

amp steps, good stuff, installing is easy, just the wiring takes time, this kit has the LED lights also that need to be installed which took time. I also got the "switch" kit and put the switch in cab where you can command them to stay up or down, took some time. Use the same studs as ford mounts so that was much easier than when I installed them on my 2006 10 years ago. Again, reason I did amps is because dropping them and the LED headlights reduced my order cost $6k, screw that! these were 1200 and I can live without the headlights, though they are pretty....

Started to work on the bumpers, lots of wiring in there. got the rear almost done, will start back on that this morning with me cutting on body to get it on. will have bumper pics after today, may wait another day with front off as it gives more room to work on suspension.

Are you using your Alcoa’s ?

jetjock15 09-01-2018 08:27 PM

Haven’t decided but prob keep them for winter studded tires or similar, planing to move to a colder climate in next few years.
