What holds the ipad in and is it removeable? Do you just run a wire through it to connect the ipad or is there a plug built into it? This may have just jumped to the top of my list.

New back up lights. I wanted something that wasn't going to hang down to far and stick out like a sore thumb and stumbled onto these on ebay for $15. I figured at that price, why not give them a shot.

The iPad just sits in there. The angle and the charger hold it in place. The kit comes with a charge cable that you epoxy in place. The iPad is easily removable.

Motorcraft 10w30 is fine or a 5w40 of your choice is what I recommend

So currently when you turn your truck on, the iPad Mini turns on and goes to desktop or actually starts the monitoring software? Here is a way to auto start (sorry if you knew this already):

How to Put an iPad Into ?Kiosk? Mode, Restricting It to a Single App

Wonder if it works for this purpose..? As if I went this route, would rather not have to boot up the mini and then open the application each and everytime I want it to run...which would be 100% of the time.
