tow mirror extending

Hello - I have an F250 with Ford tow mirrors. Recently I tried to extend them, and only one would move.
Any suggestions on how to get the other moving. I have pulled really hard on it and tried to squirt some silicon on it but to no avail.

Thanks

Are you able to pull it out manually?
If yes, Does your under hood light work?
If yes, is the mirror adjustment joystick in the middle/ neutral position?
If yes, do you hear the motors trying to extend the mirror?

Just a handful of things to check. My recollection is that the power extend motor is on a lighting circuit that feeds the under hood light and/ or vanity mirror lights. The fuse may be blown and you may not know it. Also, if memory serves, they will not move if the glass adjustment knob is switched to a mirror. It has to be in the center position. I won't swear to that one though.

My passenger side mirror has begun stick. About 75% of the time it needs a little nudge when I press the button to extend the mirrors. It retracts just fine.

Yup thats how it starts. Soon you will hear the plastic gears grinding or they wont move at all.Ford doesnt sell gears just complete mirror at 1500 each. Had both mine done under warranty. Theres a guy that sells aftermarket brass gears for them. Its a tedious process taking them apart hence why ford only replaces them completely.

Mine are electric and one has quit working so I have to pull it out while holding the extend button.

That is the base level mirror.

The upgrade mirror is power extend/fold.
