What is this little barrel on the downward section of my stock exhaust

My truck’s exhaust is deleted on the stock 4” exhaust but we never touched the section behind the muffler. What is the purpose of this little barrel and is it a good idea to chop it off?

It's just a resonator on the tailpipe. You probably wouldn't notice a huge increase if you got rid of it.
