Factory Brakw Controller not working???

Ok, this is weird. I noticed last week that the integrated brake controller in my 2013 Lariat F-350 wasn’t sending any brake signal to my fifth wheel.

I even jacked up the gain to 10 and nothing. I am beginning to think that it has never worked properly from the start, as I always left my gain around 4 to 5 just as I had it on my 2011 F150.

My next step is to plug in my FORScan app to see if it’s throwing codes when I’m towing but I’m going to use the PC version.

Anyone else have this issue or know of any troubleshooting for it? So weird.

Does your trailer have auto adjusting brakes? Many of the trailers with drum brakes have to b manually adjusted.

If there are tbc faults they show on the LCD screen at start up.

As stated above, make sure you are getting the trailer connected alert and that the trailer is workimg proper

J- when I adjust gain with slider it has zero impact on the trailer brakes

Larry - no pretty basic electric brakes. And it’s a brand new trailer

Ps- yeah no faults. When I plug in a connector tester, the brake does not measure any input. So weird. Truck detects it. Powers the lights. But nothing to the brakes. How weird is that?

And it’s the OEM integrated brake controller.

Is it possible it’s just not working properly and not throw codes? Did the dealership not enable it correctly?

Thanks for your help guys.

Was this something you had added from a dealership? If not then maybe do some testing and have some one hook it up and hit the brakes maybe follow the lines back from the plug to your trailer with a tick tracer and see if your dropping voltage somewhere or maybe it’s not sending it at all coming out of the plug??
If you had it added then take it back and make them fix it. That’s where I would start

If your under warranty let the dealer fix it.

If not, do you have a friend with a 11-16 tbc? Make sure you have the harness and all that and not just the controller.

Have someone else with any controller hook up to your trailer to verify the trailer.
