6.7 high miles

Im looking at purchasing a 6.7. Curious to find out if anyone would be afraid of a 2011 6.7 with 234,000 miles. Has had Regular maintenance. EGR delete

Idk. I would stay away from 2011 year trucks. Seems like they were hit and miss with major engine issues.

I know they had bad turbo's but with that milage it must have been changed by now.How is the rest of it, body, driveline, suspension? I wouldn't be afraid of it but it would have to be a good deal. Just my 2 cents worth.

Itís wasnít jus the turbo on the 2011. It was something major with the pistons/block.

Complete engine failure.

I think the general ratio was 50/50 so Iím not saying all of them were bad. Just something to watch out for and make sure you get a good deal knowing that might happen to you.

You asked, I'll answer, I wouldn't touch it. Then again, it all boils down to how much $$$$ you have to spend and if it's the only truck in your $$$ range that will meet your needs.

Yep this right here. Just happened to my brothers 11. Engine replacement was north of 12k, not sure on final number though.

There were three common issues with early 11 trucks.

-Transmission valve body causing delayed engagement and erratic low speed shifting

-turbo failure partly due to bearing material and mostly due to early tuning overspeeding them

-a metallurgical issue with valve hardening causing exhaust valve to break apart and thus destroy the motor. (This problem seems to be limited to trucks buikt prior to April 2011)

Only other differences were the newer seats and dash in the 13+ trucks, and the bigger turbo and fuel pump in the 15+ trucks.

By no means was it 50/50 on engine failures.

Any issues you may run into at those miles are problems you would have with any truck.

If you are comfortable with it and the price is right-go for it.

I personally purchased a 2011 CCSB 6.7 with 125K on it in December. I have done an EGR Delete, Exhaust, run it on tow tune daily. I have 180K as of this morning. I will be looking into changing the turbo shortly as the records do not show it as complete. I have heard about the head issues, but IIRC that was limited to cab/chassis models. I like the truck so far and it seems to have a good record. For the record...I hate Fords...but I'd rather have a reliable truck than a Chevy...

Don't be deterred by what others say. If you like it, runs good, has a maintenance history and the price is right go for it. Just because certain years had issues doesn't mean you'll have them. People who have '15's and even '17's have needed to replace major things already. It can happen to ANY year truck.
