Air conditioning recirculation

I've searched and maybe I'm not phrasing it right, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. So the new truck('15 F250 Lariat) seems to allow way more air in the cab than my last two trucks. I'm guessing it has to do with the blend door not functioning properly but thought I'd see if this has been a common issue. The A/C gets plenty cold, it's just intolerable to sucking in so much fumes from high emissions cars or trucks in front of me even when the recirculation button is active. Thanks.

interesting

i have honestly never noticed the exhaust smell of other vehicles with or without recirc on unless of course you get an old gasser running rich as heck

I have a pretty sensitive nose I can tell when a smoker is in front of me when i have my windows down

Coming from a '00 Toyota Tacoma that I drove for 16 years, I've noticed a difference in the way the '16 Ford AC works compared to the yoda. In the yoda I never switched to Max/recirculate on AC, defrost, or heat. I prefer to get outside air. In the big Ford if the temps are above the mid 80's the AC doesn't get the job done unless it's on max/recirculate. Just an idiosyncrasy of Fords I guess. Co-workers that have SD's tell me their trucks are the same.

I have yet to smell anything other than a real oil burner.

Buy a scented candle (or whatever), place it close to the driver's side cowl opening. This is where the outside air is brought into the truck. Check your system in Recirc mode first. If you smell the candle I'd say you have a issue. Recirc should not pull in air from the outside.

I don't get any outside odors when using recirc except for driving through brush fires.

My truck lives in max a/c--recirc mode, and I never have any outside air odors in my cab--I can switch to outside air when in a city and I can smell every car around me, but as soon as I go back to max a/c or recirculate, I'm back in my safehaven.

Maybe your blend door or its foam weatherstripping around it isn't sealing or activating properly.

I will try it on max and see if it makes a difference, I've been setting it at 72 with recirculation on and it's cool enough for me...way better than my 06 f250 a/c. I'm suspecting blend door issues, I will be taking it into the dealer.

Set at 68, max ac for me year round and I?m comfortable even when it?s 110 out. Likely blend door issue!

Tried to run Max A/C this afternoon, climate screen temp went from 72 to "LO" and it didn't take but a min before I was freezing and had to put it back to 72 which cancelled Max. Soon after passed a guy mowing his property and the smell instant filled the cab. I'm almost positive it's the blend door. I will report back once I get it to the shop in a few weeks.
