EGR block off only?

With my new-to-me 2015 F-350 truck soon to be past its 36k warranty, I am thinking about blocking off the EGR. At this point, I don't want to go through the hassle of completely removing it.

So, if I purchase block off plates from somewhere (recommendations?) can I just remove the main pipe that feeds the hot gases into the EGR without doing a full delete? More importantly, can I do this without running an after market tuner or throwing any CEL codes?

I ask because it's not totally clear from reading others posts if I can do this WITHOUT adding a tuner.

You need a tune and with a tune to disable the EGR comes the dpf delete also. You can't do one or the other.

Nope, they don't disable the EGR.

I completely took off my egr when the valve went bad, I didnt have any aftermarket tuning and the truck ran fine but as soon as something on the dpf goes bad the truck shutsoff

2011 F-350 srw, d****** with custom ccs tunes (x3,no pilot injection,no preliminary torque managment, vgt off @ idle) Sounds and smokes like a 7.3 but just way faster.

So the egr is engine related which is covered for 5yr/100,000 miles.

Your 36k warranty has nothing to do with that so you could have either deleted already or you need to wait to 100k if you don't want to risk losing your warranty.

I say this as unrudely as possible: I find that hard to believe. Completely removing the EGR without aftermarket tuning (as you stated) without going into Limp Mode and having the dash lit up like a Christmas tree doesn't make sense. I'm sure there's another factor in here that was unmentioned

Thats for that - for some reason, I was under the impression that (for the 2015 model year forwards) the warranty was now only 3yrs/36k.

So, based on your information, as I *now* understand it, the "bumper-to-bumper" warranty is 3yr/36k and that covers just about anything going wrong. After that expires, I'm down to the engine-only (or does that include engine and drivetrain?) warranty that goes for 100k/5yr.

Since I bought this from a non-Ford dealer (used-car), some of my information is incomplete. When I have some time, I shall pop into my local Ford dealer and see if they can fill in some of the blanks.
