Def and road trip

Hello all.im new to these engines and the def it uses. My wife is going to be taking my truck to the Carolinas with her mom, aunt and my son here soon.the question is I haven't put any def fluid in it since I've bought it. Would it be OK to top off the tank before they go so I don't have to worry about her having to add to it? Anything I should check to ensure they have a safe trip there and back? It's over 1k miles there and back by the time they spend a weekend there.ill check the usual fluids, tires anything I'm missing?

You can fill it any time. Keep in mind you have to fill it completely full to reset the sensors though. Check the fluids and tire pressure and let her eat

Not towing, you will get about 6,300 miles per fill on def. Top it off and let he go on her way. Drain the water separator as well.

Lastly, if you have not bought one, buy the Ford Def filler tube.. it prevents over filling and it pouring down your paint all for about $7.

I got my filler tube at my local ford dealer I think it cost me like $20

It fits onto the boxes of BlueDEF that I get at walmart perfectly.

There's no truck stops near me but that's a good idea for the future.

I do the same most of the time. Or if not i wait until my under 1/2 message appears and drive another 500 miles and then its perfect for the standard jug you can get at tractor supply, autozone, truck stops and ex.. one fills it up with no extra and resets the info bar.
