Unless they can make diesel technology less expensive, and more available and easier to purchase, I dont see the market growing.

I see more direct injected gassers, with turbos. These type of rigs will become much more efficient as the technology grows.
Diesels have been direct injected for a long time. Gassers have only been direct injected for about a decade. Only been main stream on big production vehicles in the last few years.

I dont think diesels will ever go away, people need to haul/tow/etc.
I dont think a gasser will ever be able to replace the diesel with matching performance.

I think it will go one way or the other- gassers become more efficient, and push diesel sales down. OR gassers hit a brick wall/plateau, and diesel becomes a more viable option.

I doubt diesel sales will go down. The passat diesel where people are getting 46 mpg, is very popular. I think diesel technology needs to become more reliable and refined. People also have this vision of diesels in the 80's that were loud, slow, dirty and unreliable. They need to realize that diesels have changed so much from where they were. It will just take awhile for them to realize that.

I plan to still be driving my 6.0L. As for what's new, it depends on how much more the government gets involved in it. It ain't looking good. For example, that duufus who sits in the governors office in California just signed more than 800 new laws into effect for the new year!! This crap is spreading like the plague and I don't see much way to stop it.

me 3 will be rockin the 6.0 for sure... I predict the 6.0's will be worth lots of money maybe? along with the 7.3's and 5.9's due to people wanting a "real" diesel truck and not some over emissioned engine with gosh knows what they will have on the engines then.. Heck my brother in law is a emt- he is a diesel nut too and he showed me pics of there 6.0 ford ambulances.. Well the epa is requiring them to install dpf on the engines!! HA! wonder what kind of problems they are going to have now?!!

I'll still be driving my 6.0, I'll be some where in 400k range. I see the prices on a good used diesel 100-150k miles being the same a a new gasser. Kinda like now, you will see people spend 20-25k on a 7.3 with under 100k miles on it. It's all in economics I guesss......

LOL who knows about the emissions BS, hell no one could have ever dreamed they would be dumping horse piss into an onboard tank in their truck before and now look where we are. What's next, cow manure?
