2004 F250 6.0 Extcab SRW fuel tank cleaning

What and how often if even needed should the front fuel tank be cleaned? I recently posted about very very slow fueling. Ford suggested dropping the single front fuel tank for about $400 and clean the tank. Then install a new fuel tank vent. The tank on this truck has never been cleaned.

Some tanks never need cleaning it just depends on what was put into the tank ;-)

slow fueling sees like a strange dealer diagnosis

but dropping the single midship tank when it is low on fuel is not a hard task and some choose to pull the bed instead but the bolts can be a bear

you will be miles ahead if you pressure test the tank after you re install the fuel pickup/sender to make sure the large o-ring and top plate have sealed properly

be prepared to find you need a replacement pick up foot or have one handy

I'd take into consideration what your bed supports look like. If it's time to replace, why not remove the bed and fix those supports while getting the fuel tank in good shape??
