Bypass filter change interval

I recently flushed my truck's coolant of the gold coolant and filled with ELC and a bypass filter. I have seen a post or two of folks changing the filter every three months. My truck is not a daily driver and I was hoping someone here might be able to give me an idea of how often to change the filter more on a mileage basis.

Once a year, or when the filter and lines do not feel equally hot anymore -- I think 3 months is overkill unless at the start when the filter unit is first installed -- cutting the filter open will let you see how much junk it is capturing and give an idea of when to change

Be sure and use the filters that do not have the additive inside -- I don't have part numbers but Wix, Fleet Guard, Napa all make filters that will fit

In my defense, I was unsupervised

General note:
For all those wanting a premium silicone sealer Kubota 70000-73764 is the best your gonna find. This is a hybrid gray silicone that uses solvent rather than acid to start the curing reaction, this makes it safe for aluminum and and any surface that involves coolant.

I was advised 10,000 miles by the International parts dealer where I bought my last filter, for what it's worth

not worth much since he is pulling that out of his A##

6.0's never came with a byapss coolant filter so there is no spec
the 7.3 had one in certain applications but it is not a comparable setup to the 6.0

I agree with Hydro

cutting them open is the only way to tell whats going on
i would cut the first one open after a few weeks if it is loaded I would do the same until it cleared up

if it is pretty clear on the first inspection I would go to 6 months or a year ( cost you about 11 bucks each time )

if you're running gold coolant i may do every 3 months

I've decided to do mine every oil change just to keep it simple. I did the first one at 500 and cut the old filter open to inspect it and I was actually surprised. This is what I found.

I think you should change it right now to a IPR full flowing 3/4"filter. But that's not exactly what your asking about.

So I'll start again: the guys are correct that you should look at it quite soon the first time to see if you still have materials in cooling system after you flushed. 500-1,000 miles would be as far as I'd go first time.

ZMANN zip it. Jackals' a time or two in a lifetime can feel the sun hit their Lilly white azz that in turn spurs kicking out a game winning gadget.

500-1000 miles. Yup... I'm out of here, boy do I need to sleep better and stop kicking cans when I don't.

if you have air tools I would suggest an air chisel to open the filter for a clean debris free cut

@mhatlen that ding dong did not invent the filter he uses nor the concept just machined a manifold for the 6.0
pure power and others has sold these for a long time

go find an oil filter mount of the proper thread and wala u have 80% of his kit the other 20% of that kit won't work for us running BPD cooelrs anyway

"sunshine on his azz " would require coming his seeing the light wouldn't it ;-)

Ok step on that brake pedal Clark Kent slow it down just a whisker.

I made no claim he invented the internet or the tampon or even the pivot man position for a circle je…...…..never mind I think its his patent too. Kicking out a product may insinuate creation of the said item. Hypothetically or possibly allegedly creating something new that brings a said Creator of a product with proper data showing a said individual applied for its patent of said item. That being said that can by all means be two or even 10 items others have created as well as manufacture has no influence.
Whats critical is the said unit/individual putz skitz a accurate description of the dweeb also carries no value here. But AS LONG AS ITS HIS IDEAS that blooms into his new creation then that said individual bacteria weasel dudes new item will be patented and Alfalfa receives legal ownership of it.

At least theoretically, Are we still picking up my line of reason and a bit of its order on the matter. Like all things going to market there's so many factors that can influence these new and different *****ara thingy magigers on their maiden voyage to the free market and is what controls success or failure in the single wide again.
But if the sun ones dairy aire just right and its purpose exceeds all others the possibility of severe injury exists once money from Heaven begins reaching downpour levels.

What a bunch of hogwash. I know guys a Loon, the strange little loon markets the only coolant filter worth putting money down on the table for.

Goodnight damnit this hurt my own self respect.

Forgot to mention your splendid posts though short on factors dictating who is Big Boy of: ideas/pipe dreams/coolant filters/gravity free crappers from idea to their climax. Splendid still all the same. Better then this crap.
