Stupid exhaust question

My whole exhaust rusted, so I took it off and all I have left is the CAT. Would it be fine to just cut the cat off for the meantime unit I buy a whole new exhaust kit?

I'd probably leave it on for a bit of noise reduction, but it's not going to hurt anything to remove it. Why not just unbolt it or at least just cut the bolts if there too far gone.
