How do you remove the Cigarette lighter in a 2005?

I just need to pull it out. I want to replace it with something else.

It does NOT just pull out. It is clipped somehow behind the dash and I can touch the light behind the dash but cannot see how it unclips.

Thanks!

I'm 2 hours into this and just trying to get the damn thing out. I don't want to apply 50lbs of pile driving *** to it and rip it out, but that may be the only option. I don't see any other way that this could possibly come out, but it will definitely ruin the dash if i do that.

I got it. It's a two part system and you will need to remove the little glove box to the left and the panty hook to the right. There are two little black 'square' things inside the cigarette lighter plug. You must depress these simultaneously. Then the cigarette lighter pushes out toward the rear of the vehicle. The BLACK BEZEL STAYS IN THE DASH WHILE YOU DO THIS. After you get the metal cigarette lighter out, THEN AND ONLY THEN can you push those black tabs towards the 'center' of the hole and free the black bezel from the dash. From there, you can throw the lighter in the trash and install a double USB 3.0 Plug for your stereo. That's what I needed to get it out.

Cool! Can you post a link to the USB plug? I don't have a cig lighter but I do have 2 power points.

Oh...right!

Once the lighter *not the powerpoint* is removed and the black bezel as well, then the part in the link fits right in with no additional modification needed.
