I was on the fence between a 6.4 and a 6.0, I'm so glad I went with the 6.0. I've done all the work myself except for decking my heads. That cost me another gasket set and a new piston because the valves weren't set back enough (still just in spec per their book tho). Besides that I've thrown money at it for upgrades and that's it. It's been great and I plan to keep her a long time.

I do test drive a new one from time to time, I love the interior of the new 17s but the exterior is ugly in my opinion. I'd love to have all the newer features but I don't plan to pull the trigger any time soon.

I have a 15 f350 with the 6.7 and can tell you that it runs like a striped ape and pulls like a freight train. That being said, I have two kids going to college, too many vehicles, daughter is needing a car, and I am wanting to retire in 3 years. I am going to trade my 15 in on a car for my daughter and replace it with an 05 - 07 6.0 dually because I believe they are the best bang for the buck.

I had an 07 f250 that gave me 105k trouble free miles and wish I still had it but didn't want to deal with new cab corners and a bed plus I wanted an f350. I should have looked for a nice southern truck 6.0 then.

I think the motors in those trucks are great.....probably the best out there. I don't like how the Dodges look, and the interiors on all of the 03-07's I've seen are just beat to hell....they don't seem to hold up very well at all.

.....and the fact that people what $20,000+ for them when I can get the same year and type of truck with the 6.0 PSD for around $6,000 or more less money.

Not sure I want to mess with that.......

I wouldn't mind finding one with a blown 6.0 and rebuilding it.....but I don't want to tackle a swap, especially on a truck that's going to be used 99% of the time towing my camper around the country with my family.

I would love one of the newer Fords with the 6.7....but it's hard to justify the cost when I'll only be towing my boat or camper 3-4 times a month. Last year I only put 5,000 miles on my gas truck if that tells you anything.....all road trips with the camps and trips to the lake with the boat.

I guess if you get called crazy, there must be a bunch of crazy people here. I'm looking for a 6.0 in a 05-07 f250 or f350sw as well. I don't like the looks past the 07 body style. I have a lot to learn about them but willing to try. The prices are going up on those years meaning even more crazy people pushing prices up. Good luck with yours!

I've got a gasser now......and although it pulls my camper and boat just fine, I'm tired of getting 7mpg on long 2000mile road trips......and having to spin the motor up to 4000rpms every time I want to make it up a hill. My HEMI Dodge makes good power....but only at high rpms, and the it seems like the transmission is always shifting up and down. Very annoying on long road trips.

Throw me in the "Go For It!" group.

All the advice you need has already been mentioned or you've read elsewhere on here I'm sure.

Be smart. Be patient. They made lots of them and yours "is out there".
