I can't tell if the kickstand is there or not. Going to try and get this shroud popped off first.

No need to mess with the shroud at all. And removing the stator isnt hard, but if u have the factory fan clutch, then you will need to figure out new mounting for the wiring. Good thing is your tensioner is factory. From the angle of your pic, cup that pulley closest to you with your hand, then feel along the bottom of the tensioner, should feel it. Unless its missing. You can break some of the fins off the stator if needed then use a serpentine belt tool. Its skinnier than a breaker bar. May even be able to pull enough slack to just pop it off the alt pulley. I think maybe @john galt mentioned having to do that at one point. Or two. Good luck with it. I hate having to do anything with the belt on the 04.

Due to dropping $2.5K on the truck already and having a 4 month old daughter, I'll likely have to do the one dead one and then knock-out another one here and there as $ permits.

Is there any "OMG Don't Do That!" reasons why I shouldn't do them 1 at a time as $ permits?

If you decide to go ahead with these, InjectorsDirect is about 30 minutes from me. I can give you a good deal on my old cores and drop them off so you can forego the core charge. I already did this for another org member a while back. Let me know

I had an alt go out when i was down in sacramental trying to get home
long story short parts stores were closing in an hour a i went through 5 parts store alts from 3 stores to get one that worked..
so i got pretty quick at changing them..
i started off doing the kick stand by brail thing but found that if i climb up on the motor and lean on the back of the alt with a lot of force i can pull the bolts then rock the alt forward to release the belt then feed the new one in lean on the alt get the bolts started then lean hard on it and drive them home i got to about 3 minutes from new alt in box to new alt on truck old one in box and ready to return
still the fastest and easiest way i have found to change them out

i myself have been blessed to not have to go through that on my truck yet
probably shouldnt have said that i know how that works
looks like i will be swapping out the u joints on the front hubs in the near future starting to get a whir from the drivers side u joint.
no doubt from when the tire shop over torqued all 8 lugs and i lost a wheel doing the break in drive for my new tires
coming up on the anniversary of that episode come to think of it

anyone know the arts number for those axl u joints...not finding anything but front driveline which i already did about a year ago in my searches

That's extremely nice of you! I already ordered one and had them put the 'hold' on my card for the Core until I send it in. When I go to do the rest I'll shoot you a message.

I ordered via Amazon a "tall" T40 and T45 Torx socket and a "short" T30 socket. Is there anything else I might need? I have the 12mm Allen for the Standpipe.

Truck is an Early 2006.
