@john galt pm me that info on the alternator whenever you can no rush.

So today at first start up volts read 11.8,then moved to 12.7 and withing seconds was above 13 volts. I've never seen over 14 volts though.

IIRC ford minimum spec is 13.3. Voltage will stay under that until the glow plugs shut off.

Depends on your connections, positive and negatives.
Depends on your alternator condition.
Depends on how many amps your alternator puts out.

During the glow plug on time, they can draw enough amps to task the alternator, and the batteries for the first 30 seconds will want to draw that much too.

A 110a early stock alternator, and one in the 140a range. Once the glow plugs are off with their ~85a draw, it's not as bad.

The 230a L-N exceeds the voltage ceiling for the GPCM, so it kicks them off early.

Guess I need to look and see if my alternator has any specs on it, or a brand.

I'll have to get the alternator tested and batteries. The batteries are a few years old, they're the autocraft brand.

if you want a link pm me but i am not sure it looks like the company was bought our and have not yet researched who the new owners are or where they are or how good their products are...

this and check out all your wires and grounds and your gpcm while you are at it...

that was kind of my thinking thanks for the verification. i am still looking at building a decent box that fits but its kinda on the back burner as i have way more to do than i am going to be able to get done already here before snow flies and i am NOT building it in the snow and lack room in the shed to make any real progress at least until i get the shed cleaned out before the snow flies part done but that is WAY down the list after little things like install the new heater fill the wood shed with fire wood replumb the damnable kitchen ...you know...little stuff

this is a full service outfit
i would rather have you here sigless than not but with sig intact...just sayin
i do however understand you aggravations in the handling of this enough that i was out until i heard you were back...then it just seemed kinda pointless for me to remain gone
zman has always been very fair and helpful with stuff like this
(or really about anything else i can think of at the moment)
so if he is in i am sure a reasonable solution will be found

hmmm. lots of coding in the quote...but none of it seems to produce a picture.file corrupted by the nazis at google for racism or something? was it of a white truck perhaps?

ah...the force is strong with this one

I ran a set of lifetime autozone pads on the wifes suburban for 120k and they look better than that by a long shot
in fact i have the free replacements on now and have for about 30lk and they still look new

me too...i thought for sure we were in

you are correct i consider him and well...really most of you guys here to be friends so...
I am fairly confident that this will now be handled in a more adult fashion...
and yes i just used zmann and adult in the same sentence

ps if anyone needs me to trim down my sig just ask me...it really is only a pic as small as i could make it and a rough run down of my truck sould anyone be either interested or need a bit of info to assist me in some debacle i am attempting on my rig
I missed the problem you had Patriot and hope whatever the skirmish was it doesn’t leave your nose out of joint. Because some things will jar the hell out of a person. Most of us have been cranked too far a time or two for saying things that puts a wedgie in someone’s crack.

Let it go is my best advice. But if you have impending doom by all means get a hold of ZMANN he’s calm level headed cool as a cucumber. If you need his real name, address, phone # and name of his kids pm me.
Kidding but he’s the one to talk about anything becoming a problem here.

I get my batteries from Walmart now. Warranty and return policy is good, And there's a Walmart in almost every town if something does happen. I've had good experiences with them, way better than the excides that I used to get thru work. I got them but wholesale , but they just wouldn't last, 15-18 months tops. The ones from Walmart are 4 years old and still going strong, even with getting drained to absolutely 0
