We used to call icicles like that 'widow makers' Ours were hanging from the 2nd story though. They were cool looking, but could be dangerous. We'd get a long stick and knock em down so they wouldn't fall on us. The big ones would go all the way thru the snow and stick into the frozen ground

we call them widow makers too. but those are on the back of the house where no one goes
hence they are still there...
i had a friend in the 80's who had an ice dam about 3 feet thick curling over and when it came down it went right through the wall and landed on the head of her kids bed
granted she had a tourist house not really built to handle tahoe winters but that changed the way i look at ice dams and what not forever
hell i just lost my green house i was so happy to have going because a glob of snow bout 5 by ten by five feet thick came down out of the tree behinds and obliterated the roof...
winter is serious business up here. speaking of which i hope to get out and do some wrenching on the snow blower tomorrow change or clean up the plug change the oil tweak the drive disk and change the belt or tensioner depending on what i find in there and build a cage for the exhaust so i dont burn all the skin off my arm again and try to get the impeller straitened out so it throws better again...
and dig out a ladder and fix the cable my outdoor lights hang off and get the roof of the trailer cleared again...thats the plan anyways i just dont move like i used to or get a tenth of what i used to get done in a day done
never thought this would happen to me...i was invincible

They should be fine. Just leave earlier, driver slower, and don't plan on breaking any land speed records. Checking cams on www.tripcheck.org the roads look pretty good from LC. They should be fine.

I was invincible up til my 30's. Paced myself a bit in my 40's. Now in my 50's I am paying for that prior invincibility. I just put the blower in the garage. Had a bunch of ice built up in it. I have to check the impeller too. The wife sucked up a rock last week and bent the tip on a blade. Broke a shear pin and the main drive chain. Fixed it yesterday and ran it all morning, but the wife got on it for a couple hours and now its breaking shear pins almost immediately. Think the tip of an impeller blade might be hitting something.

Guess I need to tell the wife to quit shoveling snow and come in and make some jerky. She makes a terrific peppered jerky with round steak. Been out for a couple weeks now.

I have a random question

I went trailer shopping today and looking at a bullet premier trailer. Does anyone have experience with this line of trailers?

Looks like pretending my head gaskets are fine isn't going to work much longer, KDD heads are ordered. I bought studs and FelPro head gaskets after the EGR cooler self destructed so I'm a leg up right out of the gate
