He is a hell of an operator. Just comes by it naturally. I couldn't believe how well he did the first time he sat on the backhoe and he's only gotten better since. At 21 he can outdo me on pretty much any of the machines. Now I've never done machine work professionally, but I have ran dozers, hoes, loaders and excavators for close to 40 years on and off, so I'm a capable operator. He's a savant on them and good enough at his age that his boss gave him this job to run as the foreman. It didn't happen from lack of planning or carelessness, more from not having all the information about the site. An unfortunate problem in this kind of work. I'm so thankful that he's OK, but the first thing he told me he did when he finally quit sliding was to kill the engine because he knew it wasn't getting oil at that angle. I'm kinda proud of him for thinking about the equipment after a ride like that. Then he said "Dad that was pretty scary, I'm going to get a beer and try to calm down".

O wow!! That is scary. I bet he was surprised!! Glad he is ok. Only thing close for me is the time I was driving my backhoe thru the back of a guys property, and my back tire went thru an old septic tank nobody knew about. Almost rolled.
