I wasted more fuel just driving around, but in the end it comes down to are you going to actually use it.

if its just going to sit around and maybe be used once a year is it worth having, and then the battery taking a chit and becoming a paper weight and has to be replaced, did you really save any money

Man sounds cool! Would like to see some video. I used Jannettyracing.com. So far so good. Dudes wanna charge 300-500 to tune locally. I'll probably do it if I boost.

It was $430 with the x4 tuner, I didnt think it was to bad. The local guy want $550 for just the tune. Everything from the 5.3 bolt right up to the 6.0. Main thing is making sure you have a 24x or 58x reluctor, it has to be the same as what came out of the truck

When you let the wife drive and you can't see the monitor so you don't stress it cause you know you properly maintain your truck and that it was built right, but that's not it. It's cause you're actually insane

Nice, I have an 07 escalade with the 6.2. I use blackbear performance for my tuning with efi live. Since my buddy bought the tuner pack it came with 2 licenses. He used one on his Max and gave me one for the esky. But we're not smart enough to do it ourselves with it. They charged me $250 and would have been and extra $150 if I didn't have the license. We did play with stuff before getting a proper tune. Shutting off the torque management did a ton for it. They tell me I should be sitting at 450-460 hp on a stock stock motor with just intake and exhaust. Actually just a drop in filter and a muffler. Can swap will put me over 500. But right now I'm having oil pressure issues which is causing issue with the vvt. I either have bad cam bearings or a bad pump. Or both. I'm leaning towards just getting a stroker crate motor or just dumping this the way it sits and buying a new one.

Those are notorious for lifter issues because of the displacement on demand, usually wipes a cam out when the lifter goes bad

I don't carry any tools in any vehicle. Well except my work van but that's different. Not even on my boat. I make sure chit is as right as it can be and if chit hits the fan on the road I'll just get towed. On the boat, I have enough karma points saved up for towing other people back to shore that I don't even worry. And all my vehicle always seem to get me home before they break.

Yes I've read about a bunch of different issues. The 07-08 did have the dod or afm but it wasn't activated in the ecm. So you got the crap early parts with no benefit. But mine was built before April of 07 so it supposedly doesn't have those yet. It's got almost 175k miles on it and has been showing some signs of a problem for probably the last 30k. Hasn't got worse, but my oil pressure drops under 20psi at idle once warm and it isn't enough to retard the Cam back. Only an issue on longer highway runs, towing the boat, or when the oil gets over 5k on it.

I kinda want it to break so I have a reason to build something good. Kinda like my 04 has started to show signs the hg's are toast and now I have a reason to pull the cab and do studs and such. This is in the wife's eyes mind you. If I had my way it'd all be done by now.
