those of you with full replacement bumpers, how do you have yours strengthened?

I've got some brackets that are nice and bent now......

I have a full Ranch Hand bumper with 12000 Warn winch. I had the welder cut the bumper mounts off the front frame and make new ones out of material about 7/16 And added a few webs to resist twisting

I wondered if that's what your post on FB was about lol. I hit one at 70 and bent mine the 3rd day after I had the bumper and found out yeah....stock mounts are inadequate by themselves.

I bent them back into place (with vice-grips......go figure) and then just bolted in some 3x3x1/4" angle iron in behind them on the bottom to act as passive reinforcement. IMO you don't want to strengthen that area "too" much, because if it doesn't give there, the next spot it'll go to is the crush zone in the front of the frame and you don't want that to happen. I've hit 3 other deer in the past 5 years with it like that way (2 at 50ish, 1 at 35) and they haven't bent again yet, just washed off the hair and blood and called it a day.

Mine bent, when the tow truck that showed up didn't have a heavy enough wheel lift to lift the front end. He couldn't tow me backwards with the slide in camper. So he had to lift the front end old school and The Leverage on the bumper Twisted the mounts. However with a 12000 pound winch plus potentially a block I wanted something solid enough that I wouldn't rip the bumper if I started pulling on something

We're heading down to the cabin tomorrow morning (4am) and it's been alternating between snow and rain/thunder/lightning for the last few weeks, hopefully everything's still bolted down when we get there, 8k' elevation and no electricity is never fun

Yep....mine did the same thing. I didn't get so lucky though since mine curled up enough to scratch up the fender flares and headlights pretty bad. All cosmetic, but enough that I still had it all replaced.

my dad thinks I should file it against comprehensive, just pay myself to pull it straight and weld some extra metal to it
