But if it is actually turned off then no I wouldn't see a need to Re-load but really what would it hurt?
Chris @ TSD wrote a tune for me with the adaptive learning turned off, at least as much as possible. I don't know all the details on it, since I am obviously not a tune writer, but I could definitely tell the difference since the truck shifted the same no matter what.

Yeah he was one of the ones I asked and was told no.

The guys at Gearhead said "it doesn't work that way" but that was all I could get out of them... so IDK that's why I hope Jay can come in and shed some light on the subject

Edit: Scott I agree for up to Atlas 40, but IMO when loading up 80 and/or Herc it wouldn't hurt to reinitialize the adaptive learning and if you're having trans issues afterward like Wes, it may help alleviate those issues. Just my 0.02..

@Dave .... you had the adaptive learning turned off too, what was your experience with it?

We may not get a response from Dave for awhile, since I don't see him around as often these days.

Yeah, I use Fuelly and you can set up reminders both for mileage and/or time for all of your maintenance intervals. When it hits one of the limits you set up it will pop a message up in the app and/or send you an email.

FICM tuning is like old style Edge tuning.......it adds power but doesn't tune your transmission. So when you add more power with a big FICM tune, you're still using the adaptive learned parameters from the ECM tune since it was last loaded. If you re-load the ECM tune at the same time, it will start the adaptive learning over again with the new parameters from the fresh tune and be able to better adapt to the changes that the FICM tune provides. It still won't be spot on, but it'll be closer.
I reloaded spd and the ficm. You had told me a while back to do that. I was at about 175 miles and got on it a bit nothing crazy just like a 3rd in on the throttle. And wouldn't shift then shifted hard. Maybe it needed more Idk. Just loaded spd this afternoon and atlas 80. Drove to and from work. Both ways easing in in the throttle nice and slow. Hitting about 90, gears shifting like butter. Also SPD is super clean barely any smoke unless I floor it. Thought about doing srlx and atlas 40. But will be some other time. Lots of police presence in Miami lately with all these politics. Last thing I need is them on my *** for driving a freight train through downtown.
