5.4 is absolutely worthless

have owned a 2005 f250 with the 5.4 for 3-4 months now. Ford better get their engine offerings fixed ASAP or they are screwed. mine is a cam phazer knocking turd and wont pull a salmon upstream. I bought it for a 12v cummins swap so i dont really give a rats about it. the 6.2 is having the same issues, the ecoburst is having a series of issues, the 6.7 is a costly beast (owned a 2011). i know the 6.8 is a good engine but is now out of production. toyota and nissan will soon have cummins, dodge has 2 diesels (owned 7), chev has duramax (owned 4), ford has.......... frick.

We have 7.3's and know that they are awesome. With the price of 6.0 6.4 and 6.7 these days, I am joining the under $10k super duty club and throwing a 12v cummins into a newer nice f250 for a driver. No performance goals or off road goals, just a good lookin and good running truck to burn the road up with.

Loved my 6.0, not a single problem, traded for a 6.4 that ate through two fuel pumps, but still love the power with it. My 6.7 is still young, and non deleted but runs great, and great power stock.

I love my Ecoburst and the POS 6.0. They have never let me down, but damn them anyway.

While my 09 won't do a burnout going down the road at 35 mph or beat up on a honda civic with a fart can like my 04, it does pull the bob cat and hay wagon and push snow just fine , any heavy hauling is left to the f550 or the kenworth and low bed, the EPA has killed the Diesel engine and for a dd I can't see myself going back to a diesel any time soon

The 5.4 has no business in a super duty/excursion. Everyone I have driven is gutless and has an annoying exhaust manifold leak. Even my brothers 06 3v 5.4 is pretty gutless and has a bad manifold leak. It is as "work truck" as work truck gets. Okay for pushing a plow around but not for towing. But on the flip side, the 6.2 has been a great motor so far. Plenty of power, they actually sound decent, and gas mileage is very similar to 5.4. When it comes to gas trucks I always have chosen chevy without disappointment, but once my 7.3 croaks im looking to buy a regular cab 6.2 super duty.
