Drum brake question- actuator arm play?
It has been a while since I worked on drum trailer brakes....or any drum brake for that matter. I pulled the wheels to get new tires and figured I would inspect the brakes and clean/ pack the bearings. It is only 3 uears old with 1200 miles but whatever. Good thing I did. One brake magnet had the retainer clip come off. I got a new clip locally so I am good there. My question is how much play should the arm have on it? They all seem to move quite freely fore and aft as well as side to side. Not pendulum loose but a lot of movement. I know they have to allow for brake application but how much is too much?
I know, should have taken a video but it started to rain and I wanted to button things up before the innards of the bearings got wet. Part I am referencing is in red. Thanks all.
