oil consumption-feel its worth a shot?

So at 150k I would consume 1.5 to 2.5 quarts of regular 15w-40 oil in 5k now that I switched to 5w-40 full synthetic my oil consumption essentially doubled.... in 2k miles Ive added 2 quarts. I wait till it hits the add mark after sitting overnight before adding too.

no un usual smoke, no external leaks, fuel filter is not black and doesn't seem to be mixing with coolant. Would changing the injector o rings possibly slow or reduce the consumption?

things done with OEM Motorcraft parts in last 30k:

-New glow plugs, valve cover gaskets and UVCH both sides
-ICP
IPR/HPOP- random nostart dealer fixed it after I couldn't for a week.
-Cncfab hpop lines
-strictly diesel dipstick adapter
-reseal fuel bowl and fuel pressure regulator
-New negative battery cables and batteries

again just spit balling but seems injector o rings could help if not greatly reduce oil consumption? I love the performance of 5w-40 but not adding 4-5 quarts in 5k miles lol. and for the 31k I've had the truck is was 1.5-2.5 till the switch.

You went from a 15 to 5 weight lubricant, yeah the lighter stuff will sneak thru where the thicker would not. Rings, valve guides, etc.

Orings would be a starting point.

In my defense, I was unsupervised

General note:
For all those wanting a premium silicone sealer Kubota 70000-73764 is the best your gonna find. This is a hybrid gray silicone that uses solvent rather than acid to start the curing reaction, this makes it safe for aluminum and and any surface that involves coolant.

This is why rotella just came out with a full synthetic 15-40. Complaints of oil consumption with the 5-40.

I actually have thread from when I first saw it at walmart and emailed rotella about a week ago. One of their customer service reps called me and explained that's exactly why the made it lol. The cold pour for 5w is -43 while its -38 for the 15w lol not much difference. I may switch this summer but if the injector o rings slow it down Id like to stay with 5w its an immense upgrade in below zero weather for me etc.

I spoke to clay and he feels there is a good chance it will help but still not 100% so wanted to run it by the more experienced folks here and see what they feel/experienced. A good friend who helped me a lot when I was very new to the 7.3ls said his consumption went WAY down and still is after o rings so figured for $100 and a Saturday afternoon may be worth a shot with 20yr old o rings anyways.

I went to the 5-40 full synthetic after injectors- no noticeable difference in consumption, it was always minimal and still is, but i really cannot compare to switching with the original injectors and o rings.
