Fuel Pressure/ ICP

Over the past few months I have noticed one or two of my injectors are getting pretty loud. I realize these are not quiet motors but it does not seem normal. It does not go away as the motor gets warm. I did a buzz test and it seemed normal. Fuel pressure is 60 at idle and wot it drops to 50. It has a brand new bosch fuel pump as well as a driven diesel hutch mod kit and the 65psi fuel spring with the FPR rebuild. My second issue is low ICP. Using torque pro on a 3/4 throttle pull it will be around 2800-3000psi. WOT it will hold at 1500-1800 at a 65% duty cycle on the PHP 140 tune. The truck only has 150k on it. Last winter my fuel gelled twice while I was driving and could have possibly did some damage. Is it possible for a bad injector to cause low ICP/ fuel pressure? I have a hard time believing the HPOP is bad already.

I would recommend inspecting and rebuilding the IPR.

I actually just replaced the the IPR and ICP sensors along with the pig tails because of a no start issue I had.

I would pressure test the HPO system. Disconnect the valve cover gasket connectors. Get a hydraulic gauge and connect it to one of the oil hoses coming out of HPOP and cap the other hose. Should be over 3000 psi? Then reconnect one hose to the head and connect the gauge to the other HPOP hose. It should read the same pressure? If not, their is an oil leak in that head. Then do the same with the other head. It should also have the same pressure as the HPOP did.

This is how I found the leaking NEW remand "baby" injector. Warrantied and replaced with new injectors from now on.

The injectors are dependent of the hpop system. When icp drops, has nothing to do with injectors unless the injector is leaking.

Check your hpop.

1500-1800 at WOT is too low. The pressure is either leaking off somewhere or the pump is worn?

"When ICP drops, has nothing to do with injectors." You are ignorant! Study, study, study the HEUI system.

Perhaps you’re not understanding what I’m trying to imply here. The OP has low, very low icp. For which I replied

Quote:
The injectors are dependent of the hpop system. When icp drops, has nothing to do with injectors unless the injector is leaking.

Check your hpop.
With a proper working hpop, you should be able to hold 2300psi or better at WOT. That icp and injector firing is normal. Now answering the OPs question:

OP

Injector firing is dependent upon hpop system. When icp drops (as in dropping 1500-1800 or what ever # it was), it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE INJECTORS b/c the injectors are FINE unless they were leaking ie TAKE A GANDER AT THE HPOP SYSYEM b/c it could be the cause. Same as what you said that it’s leaking or bad hpop.

Read in the context of the OPs question. Smh

Thanks for the input. The truck is very clean and has great maintenance records from the previous owner. That's why I was scratching my head about the hpop possibly being bad. I'm not sure I fully understand how the pressure test your talking about works. Why exactly would I be disconnecting the valve cover harnesses? Is this test done while cranking? Correct me if im wrong but I dont think its possible to create 3000psi that way. Also is 50 psi fuel pressure normal with a new fuel pump at wot?

Seen in this video. Results are bad orings in injectors causing low pressure and not the actual hpop.

If your injectors (inspect them) are okay, it could be your hpop.
