Dorsey transmissions

I am doing a major overhaul this September on my 00 7.3 already have a 38r. Going to put in 205/80 hybrids, headstuds, and a hydra with 1023 tunes, I am looking for a tranny and saw a dorsey stage 2 600hp rated tranny for around 4k. Does anyone have any experience with them?

There are only three places that I will ever buy a 4r100 from for either a stock or heavily modded truck.

John woods, Byran truck shop and.... Dorsey. You won't be disappointed with either of those set ups behind the injector/turbo combo you have. Personally I wasn't a fan of 1023 tunes and he blew me off after a second revision request and an ungodly long conversation. If they work for you great, if not Dan from SDK Performance has a good understanding with modded injector set ups. Tony Wildman, PHP have been slowly fading it seems unfortunately. I have been seeing some stuff about jellibuilt but haven't personally tried his yet.

Not to derail...but my experience with 1023 was exactly the same. Not overly impressed with the tunes either. I have the hydra and the modified injector library from PHP and I have had no issues. That being said you cant go wrong with any of the transmissions that were mentioned above.

The main reason I was going with 1023 was if I buy my injectors with a php from them the tubes were free.

I would encourage you to reach out to another tuner. Just because it comes for free doesn't mean its the best.... If you have larger injectors you really only need a few tunes... Stock modified then maybe a towing and performance tune or like a light/heavy tow file etc. Its worth it to get quality tunes. 1023 may work for you so I would try them at least since its free but you've seen from a few others it doesn't always work for your truck etc.

Again, sounds familiar. My 1023 tunes came "free" with my hydra. He wrote the tunes for the wrong hex code and whenever I emailed him he never responded. Customer service is huge when it comes to tuning.

Iím in the market for a new trans, I talked with a friend who owns a diesel shop near me and he was impressed with the price and modifications that are done in Dorsey Dieselís stage 1 trans. He said it seems very fair, Iíve heard good things about them.

Iím either going with their stage 1 trans or having a custom trans built with the same things that Dorsey offers
