If you want to tow stay with the 160/30. I could not tow with the 175/80’s. They were too hot. I could tow better stock then with them. That is part of the reason I got the new truck.

Did you ever check icp? I have heard 175/80’s are oil hungry. That’s why I was maybe thinking small hybrids. I do have Corey’s stage 1 HPOP

The problem I had was egt would get up to 1250 if I tried to give it any gas towing the 5th wheel on a hill. I could only do half throttle and about 50 mph up a 5% grade. The truck had plenty more power but it would of melted the motor.

It would some but most of the times I would have to go up hills in 2nd or 3rd depending how steep they were. A tailwind would help a lot. My buddy who has a 6.7 was towing his trailer behind me and was hitting the breaks following me through the canyon on 84 going out to Morgan and on 80 going to Wyoming when we were going up the hills

I noticed it would tow better on the 40 hp medium tow tune vs the 25 hp heavy tow tune. The 25 hp did great at controlling egt but it cut out the fuel and I couldn’t do over 45 up a hill in it. The 40 hp had plenty of power but it was a balancing act with egt. It could of been the tunes. I never played around with other tunes. Only tried php.

I definitely don’t want to have to play the balancing game towing. I tow 10k 5th wheel one or two times a year. With stock ab injectors and stock e99 it did pretty good. Haven’t towed yet with the new turbo. But this thing really does good on the top end. I definitely don’t want to go to big on injectors that it hurts my towing capabilities. It sounds like the 160/30 are the way to go. I just don’t want to regret it later on wishing I went bigger.

If I had kept the truck I was going to sell the 175/80’s and get 160/30’s. That was part of the reason I just sold it. I didn’t want to spend another 2k on injectors. It was also gonna need tires, ball joints, batteries, and other upgrades. I was gonna end up spending another 5-7K on it to get it dialed in and where I wanted. I was pretty much just trying to make it do what a new truck could do stock.

I here ya, I would love a new one. But I don’t want the payment, being able to work on mine I will keep upgrading it. Plus mine sits in the garage a lot. Another reason I can’t justify a new one
