so what is pressure? a measure of restriction

without a restriction there will be no pressure in the lines, all you will see is volume.

pumps do not put out 'pressure'. to make pressure you have to have a restriction to the flow

Ding ding ding! Pumps create flow, not pressure. Pressure is made by a restriction to flow.
