Installed the Ford fan clutch from Riffraff diesel, and it wasn't as easy as the first time. Really had to whack on the wrench this time and I didn't move the degras bottle so I broke a tab off, then the chain wrench put 2 small nicks in the pulley so I had to polish that down. The thing to top it all off was the belt was breaking, so luckily I had a old spare I will use for now. Also to make the job easier hopefully when it needs a water pump I put some antisieze on the threads. So after some choice words and some blood it's changed.

This weekend I installed all new battery cables from www.custombatterycables.com, including the cold/hard start option. I purchased the complete kit. It was really well put together.

I also installed a new Denso starter from Corey at CNC. It went in fairly easily. The entire project took about four hours, including re-wiring the rock lights and the HIDs.

The outcome is incredible. The starting is so much better and faster. As an unintended consequence, the amps seem to be pushing a ton more power to the speakers. It is markedly louder.

Thanks to Corey and the folks at custom battery cables.

Finally had time to work on my truck today and glad I did. Truck came from Florida so Im sure last owner had no idea more then half the glow plugs are bad. Got the driver side done today. Replaced glow plugs, UVCH and valve cover gasket. Retorqued injector hold down bolts and rocker arm pedastals. All were out of torque spec. Only problem I was having was not wanting to start when temps less then 50. Check out what I found when I pulled the UVCH see pic!!! Looks like I avoided injectors going out on that bank. Glad I found it. Now next Friday I hope to get to passenger side. 35 degrees out and truck was not plugged in last night or today and it started on 1st try with just 4 new glow plugs😉

Tomorrow - the Ol' Guy is getting it's 5k oil / filter change. Been running T6 5W40 - picked up T6 15W40 this time. MotorCraft FL-1995 filter. Might try to get him washed too. Looking a bit grody.

Got a new trans filter / pan gasket recently. Need to get some Mercon V before I do the job.

Lube Guard "Green Bottle" converts Dexron to Mercon V. About $10 for the 8oz bottle. Should be available where ever ATF is sold. Probably easier to find Lube Guard than Mercon V. One bottle is enough.

Thanks! I'll have to look into that.

I did get the oil/filter changed and got the Ol' Guy a bath. He was dirtier than I thought.
I also set off a Meguiar's Scent bomb (what I call it) inside the truck. I like the "New Car" scent. You start the truck, set the AC to recirculate and set off the scent bomb. Leave it blowing for about 15 mins. Then open up the truck for a while to let it air out. The idea is to get it to circulate through the Vents, blow all over inside. Truck smells all "New Car" now. We'll see how long it lasts.

Did some diagnosing and had a shop verify. Gotta replace out tie rod ends but I’ll be honest truck has gotten 23k miles since 2016 and will get VERY LITTLE this winter. I’ll wait till spring. Also going back to oem track bar. The pmf one with heim joints is getting little rowdy too. I was nervous about the metal on metal.

Anyone use the none name brands like movtech and such off rock auto for early 99s? They’re only like 5 brands for early 99 and most have been discontinued

-99 F250, 4X4, 6.0 trans cooler, 08 mirrors, 05 grill, AIS Intake, lvl kit, JW Vbody, cncfab hpop lines, WW2.

04 Excursion Modified, 04 F350 Modified, 06 F350 Modified

Interested in learning something new?

@Justin0009 - looking for the track bar? See what LMCTruck has to offer. I've found stuff there that RockAuto didn't have.
