Exclamation Steering Stabilizer ?

So I have been dealing with a clunking noise when going over bumps in the front end of my truck for a month or two now. I replaced the sway bar bushings and that did not take the noise away. Today I took my truck to get the ball joints looked at and the mechanic did a few test and said that its not the ball joints either, they are fine. He did however say that my steering stabilizer looks very worn and the bushings do not look good which I agree with because he let e come out into the shop and look at it. He also just looking at the shocks they also look ok and the truck does not act like its the shocks.

My question is could the steering stabilizer be making this clunk noise when going over bumps. I thought this was just for keeping the truck stabilized through turns and cornering.

Any help is appreciated as I am not very mechanically inclined!!

Steering stabilizer-99% not likely the issue. esp if its bumping while just driving straight.

shocks-The rubber bushings on top/bottom can fail-Replacing them will help with tire tread life and A LITTLE bit in ride.

track bar mounts/bushings- its an angle bar that keeps the front axel centered on the front of the truck

Body mount(s)-these are 20 year old trucks and rubber only last so long.

You can do shocks and track bar at home. I wouldn't pay someone to replace them. Body mounts would be a little more work to determine and replace.

Any lift kit/larger tires or other mods suspension wise?

What kit do you have? My old rough country kit would rattle when hitting bumps. It was the brackets that tied into the leaf spring ubolts. The new PMF system I have mounts a different way and produces no noise.

Truck is not lifted at all.

So is it safe to say the steering stabilizer would not make that noise when going over bumps.

What does a lift kit have to do with it? I was asking if the brand of the steering stabilizer you had was a rough country, based on their mounting configuration it is known to make noise.

Sorry I misunderstood your question. It was on the truck when I got it. It is white in color if that helps at all. Looks pretty beat up on each end.

Whats a decent brand if I decide to replace it??

The mechanic said that the sound I am hearing when going over bumps is not indicative of shocks that are bad. I would hate to replace the shocks if its not needed and then I still have the noise. Would shocks make a thud noise when going over bumps??

Not sure what to do at this point but I will definitely be replacing the stabilizer.
