If you just replace the starter solenoid. You messed up and put some wires in the wrong spot. All power to the truck goes through it.

Inspect the main electrical system: alternator, grounds, primary wires, batteries..etc etc. Inspect the steering column and key cylinder.

The starter circuit goes through the under dash fuse box / relay center to get to the GEM. So if it IS corroded or jankey, it could be the problem. We had another jankey fuse center on here earlier this week.

That would be me! When the windshield leaks, it goes through a "funnel" created by the main fuse box grommet. This drips it directly onto the ventilation slots in the back of the GEM under which sits all the connector pins - so everything controlled by the GEM stands a chance of shorting to the pins around it. From the there, the water flows into the bottom left of the fuse box which acts as a cup to allow the water to rise about halfway up the fusebox. When I removed mine, it looked like it was recovered from the Titanic.

Replacement parts are about $100 each on Ebay. I managed to find a GEM manufactured on the exact same day as my fried one! Just search the part number shown on the side. Also, OEM replacement windshields are the same price as aftermarket (around me) so don't let them give you a crap one!

Its a man made mechanical gizmo and things go to hell over time causing all kinds of disasters. Don't feel like Murphy only ever kicked you in the rear. Guy gets around with enuf for all of us.

Get it in order as well as you can and keep the truck out of the storms if water is going to be entering areas not friendly to water. Things will only get worse from here if you have water entering the electrical system. .

Not so sure I'm helping, but I'm staying busy so its a win...... well for me.
